WE PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING TREATMENT OPTIONS:

Hands-On Therapy

Hands-on treatment by the physiotherapist is a specialised treatment technique using hands and knowledge of how the body moves to help patients regain movement. It focuses on soft tissue and joint mobilisation, and manipulation to ease pain and increases mobility, flexibility, range of motion, increased circulation, and reduction in soft tissue tension.

Hand-on therapy includes massage, joint mobilisation and soft tissue mobilisation by the physiotherapist’s hands.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is an effective and gentle treatment using needles to stimulate and break up knotted or tense muscle tissue called “trigger points”. Dry needling is a very effective physiotherapy technique that is used to treat pain in many acute and chronic conditions. It reduces swelling, assists myofascial release and re-sets sensitised nerve areas.

Neural Gliding

Neural gliding exercises move/glide irritated and injured nerves and improve range of motion and reduce pain. It targets conditions that involve irritation of the nerves, such as Sciatica, Piriformis Syndrome as well as other radiculopathies. Neural gliding is used in combination with other physical therapy techniques to improve the condition.

Strapping & Taping

Strapping and taping physiotherapy techniques are a form of therapeutic and rehabilitative taping used for the treatment of muscular disorders and the management of lymphoedema and chronic swelling. It relieves pain, improves joint stability, reduces strain on injured tissue, reduces injury recurrence, enhances proprioception, and facilitates muscle action.

Rehabilitation, Exercises & Self Management Techniques

Patients are assisted with rehabilitation after injuries or chronic conditions by means of exercises and management techniques they can follow at home.

The physiotherapist will assist you with self-management techniques that may require a change in behaviour to safely manage symptoms on your own. This includes individual exercises determined by the physiotherapist for your specific condition.

Respiratory- & Cardio-Respiratory Rehabilitation

We assist adults and babies with acute/chronic respiratory illnesses. Different treatment techniques are used to address the removal of secretions and to improve airway clearance. This can help to improve respiratory efficiency by decreasing work of breathing, promoting expansion of lungs and optimizing lung compliance. Treatment techniques include percussion, shaking, vibration, use of postural drainage positions, breathing exercises as well as advice and techniques to aid in relieving shortness of breath.

Respiratory suctioning can be performed on babies when they are unable to effectively remove retained or excessive secretions from the lower respiratory tract.

Cardio-respiratory Rehabilitation assists patients with heart and lung diseases in prevention, rehabilitation and compensation. Cardio-respiratory physiotherapy treatment includes breathing techniques, specific exercise prescription and a home exercise programme.
